St. George Church in Bayside · Bayside, NY

Help connect St. George’s Church in Bayside to the city sewer system and build essential restroom and kitchen facilities for its growing parish.
For more than a century, St. George Russian Orthodox Church in Bayside, New York, has stood as a place of prayer, spiritual refuge, and enduring Orthodox faith.
The parish was formally incorporated in 1925, but its roots reach even further into the history of New York’s Orthodox community. Generations have been baptized and married here. They have gathered around the Holy Eucharist, mourned their loved ones, and found consolation within these walls.

St. George’s has survived against extraordinary odds.
The parish endured the Great Depression, World War II, the gradual disappearance of its original community, and decades when only a handful of faithful remained. At one point, the property was nearly sold. Again and again, it seemed that this small church might disappear.
Yet its doors remained open.
Through every difficult period, God sent people who refused to let the parish die. We believe that St. George himself has watched over this sacred place, preserving it for a mission that is not yet complete.
Today, the church is alive again. Divine services are celebrated regularly. The choir sings. Children and families gather. A new generation is discovering this remarkable Orthodox sanctuary and making it their spiritual home.
Now the century-old property urgently needs our help.
To continue serving its growing community, the church must be connected to the New York City sewer system. The parish also needs a modest extension with essential restroom and kitchen facilities. These are basic necessities, but without them, the church cannot adequately welcome families, children, elderly worshippers, and visitors.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to complete this vital project.
A hundred years ago, faithful people built and preserved St. George’s for generations they would never meet. We are those generations. Now the responsibility has come to us.
Your contribution will do more than pay for pipes, walls, and necessary facilities. It will help keep a living Orthodox parish open. It will welcome children into the Church, support families in their spiritual lives, and preserve a sacred place where prayer can continue for decades to come.
Every gift matters. Whether you contribute $25, $100, $1,000, or simply share this campaign, you become part of the continuing story of St. George’s Church.
All donors will be remembered in special liturgical commemorations at St. George’s, so that those who help preserve this holy place may themselves be remembered in prayer before God.
St. George has guarded his church for more than a century. Together, we can help carry its mission into the future.

Please donate today and help preserve St. George’s Church for the next hundred years.

Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada
US Church — Tax-Exempt · verified
We are a community of the Orthodox Christians, a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church under the direct jurisdiction of His Holiness, Patriarch of Moscow. Our parish is one of the 35 other Patriarchal parishes in the USA. It was founded a century ago – started in 1917 and in 1925 was registered in State as Church. All this time St. George Church had been serving the spiritual needs of the Orthodox in Queens and other areas of New York. Our temple is dedicated to the Holy Great and Victorious Martyr George, a very famous and revered Christian Saint who is known and honored in many countries over the world. Most of our parishioners are of the Russian descent but we are open to any other people who wish to worship the true God in a true Church or who are interested in Orthodoxy. Our services are held mostly in English and Church Slavonic language. We gather for our services on Sundays, on Saturdays and major holy days. Coffee and refreshments are usually offered after our services. We would be very glad to see you in our small but cozy place of worship.
